Everyone is after flawless skin. From the lady in the start to the high fashion runway models everyone wants it, but with today’s foundations it’s not actually that hard. Here are my best foundations for that look everyone is after, as well as some of my top accessories:

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua

I like to switch up foundations. I don’t wear the same one every day, but this has consistently been one of my most used for a while now. It’s amazing how such a light foundation can cover so well. It’s great for all skin types and ages. It doesn’t sink into creases or wrinkles. It doesn’t make your skin turn greasy or change colour, has good staying power, and an spf of 15. I can’t say enough!  Everyone I recommend this to loves it.

Bobbie Brown Xtra Tinted Moisturizing Balm

I love adding a dab of this to my foundation. It makes your skin glow and has a spf of 25. I’m obsessed!

Diorskin Nude bb Cream

This is an amazing bb cream. It’s so natural looking yet the coverage is amazing. I wear this on days I don’t feel like wearing foundation. Another thing bb creams (or tinted moisturizers) are great for is the neck and decollate. If your face looks darker than your neck, which it can, especially in summer, this is a great way to even things out. Buy a colour closest to your face colour and mix with moisturizer. It works great.

Lancome Teint Miracle

Medium coverage foundation with a natural, dewy finish. Great for all skin types and has a spf of 15.

Hello Flawless by Benefit

Love this for a cover up. No foundation will cover red spots, pimples etc. completely and when you are using a liquid foundation it is best to use a powder for spot cover-up. Just dab a small amount on a concealer brush and spot away. It doesn’t wear off like a cream concealer.

Luminous Silk by Giorgio Armani

A great go-to foundation for night time. It really does what the name says. It has this wonderful, natural sheen with a sheer to moderate coverage. It’s a favourite of makeup artists and I always get compliments on my skin when I wear it.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer

I’ve heard great things about this forever and just recently started using it. So far loving it! It’s very light coverage, so perfect for the days when I feel like my skin is looking pretty good and doesn’t need anything heavier.

NARS LooseTranslucent Powder

Always finish off my look by dusting on a translucent powder. It’s not supposed to add colour or coverage, just to set make up and give your skin a smooth finished look.

Laura Mercier Finishing Brush

I use this brush to apply the translucent powder. (I love this brush so much I also have one I use for my bronzer as well).

Not everyone was born with a flawless complexion but, thankfully, with the right foundation you can create one, and you wont have to hide yourself behind big Oakley sunglasses all summer! I’ve been lucky to have a pretty good complexion most of my life; but between stress, my crazy life, travel, and not enough sleep- I have to deal with all kinds of skin problems at times too. Pimples, under eye circles, bigger pores and wrinkles (ugh I’m getting older now)- just to name a few. Foundation is a cosmetic that I’ll splurge on, I buy a lot of drugstore cosmetics and I’ll be posting some of my faves in the future, but I’ve found that foundation is just one of those things where you really get what you pay for.

For the most part I don’t wear a lot of makeup. Mascara, blush and lip gloss about does it for me- but I always want my skin to look it’s best. It’s about hiding flaws without being noticeable. You never want to look like you’re wearing it, you want to look like you were born with it 🙂 Here are a few of my personal favourites and a few tips on how I apply them:

- The first step to a flawless look is to make sure there a no flakes or dry skin patches that will ruin your finish and give you dull looking skin, so exfoliate if you need to.

- Next apply your moisturizer/sunscreen and eye cream and wait 10 minutes to let it sink into your skin. My fav moisturizers coming soon!

- If your skin is a feeling a little dry, you can add a dab of moisturizer to your foundation. This also makes your foundation more translucent for a really natural look.

- I apply my foundation with my fingers but I finish it with a sponge. It makes your foundation just disappear into your skin and pores gone. Don’t put the foundation on the sponge first. That’s the mistake most people make and it just wastes foundation. You can dampen the sponge and squeeze it out to get a really natural application. They are also great for blending cream blush, which isn’t easy to do with fingers. You can also wash with a little antiseptic hand soap and re-use for a few days.
